My husband David and I started our journey in Irish design back in 2013, when we were given the opportunity to showcase our initial collections (Rubyhues Jewellery and Christoffersen Photographic Art) at The Design Loft in Powerscourt Estate. At that stage The Design Loft was in its infancy, and over the years since it has gone from strength to strength and now showcases over eighty different Irish designers and makers, all in the stunning surroundings of Powerscourt Estate. In November 2016 the original owners of The Design Loft moved on to pastures new and, having been part of The Design Loft for three years, we were thrilled to be able to take up the baton and carry on the wonderful ethos of this truly special shop.
Since then, we have given the shop a bit of a facelift , rebranded, and developed our online store. We have introduced a great many new emerging Irish designers to the gallery and are thrilled to showcase their talent in such a unique setting.
We have also moved across the landing in Powerscourt into a brand new, much larger space! This not only means we now have fabulous views over the gardens and the Wicklow mountains beyond, but we’ve been able to include even more designers, and dedicate a whole wall to our new Artist in Residence programme, showcasing original Irish artwork.
The house and grounds at Powerscourt are some of the most beautiful in the world (and that’s National Geographic saying this – not just me!) and we hope you’ll join us soon. Have a cup of tea in the café, a walk in the fabulous gardens, and then pop up the escalator to see us in The Design Loft!
